Pastor Sarah Wilson

Pastor Sarah Wilson is a consecrated diaconal minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Her call is to preach and serve. She has a master's degree in divinity from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. Typically a diaconal minister doesn't preside over the sacraments in the Lutheran Church--communion and baptism--but the bishop has given her permission to administer the sacraments as well as to perform weddings while she is at St. John's. She lives in Woodstock with her husband, Pastor Tom Rogers of Redeemer Lutheran Church, and their three children, Sophia, Grace, and Nathaniel.

A Message from Pastor Sarah:

I am delighted to be a part of the St. John's Church family and invite you to "Come and See" God's love for you. At St. John's we know that everyone can do something to make a difference in the lives around them. St. John's is also a place for you to be yourself, a place for you to ask questions, and a place for you to grow.

Hope: Christians are hopeful forward looking people.  We are forgiven and strengthened to share God's promise of new life with a hurting world.  We live out this hope by supporting and nurturing one another.  We also serve our neighbor and our world in the life-affirming love of Jesus Christ.  We offer Hope through the Hebron Food Pantry, the Home of the Sparrow, Bethphage Mission, support of the Northern Illinois Synod, and the ELCA World Hunger program.

Faith:    In Faith we believe that God sent Jesus Christ so that we might have new life, and have it abundantly!  We celebrate our life together through worship, song and study.  We strengthen our Faith through Sunday School, weekly Holy Communion, Choir, Confirmation classes, and Bible studies.

Love:    God loves us just as we are.  The life of Jesus is our shining example of how much God loves us. Jesus, God's Son, calls us to love one another, to be in fellowship with one another just as God first loved us and was in fellowship with us.  We show our appreciation for God's love and fellowship by giving back through Altar Guild, ushering, greeting, coffee fellowship, Vacation Bible School, men's and women's groups, and youth groups.

We welcome you to visit St. John's and to participate in any or all of our activities.

God's Blessings,

    Pastor Sarah
