Text Box: Letter from Don...

As president of the 2017 church council,

I want to thank Pastor Sarah Wilson for her 13 years of service at St. John’s. When
I look back on former pastors at St. John’s and other parishes, most pastors do not have a tenure as long as Pastor Sarah. St. John’s wishes her the best in her new
chapter of life.

St. John’s is blessed to have Pastor Debbie Kelly joining our parish. I am sure you remember her as Vicar Debbie during her internship to become a full time pastor. I remember the positive comments made by our members. The comments were “if we ever need a new pastor, we hope Vicar Debbie will be available to lead St. John’s”.

There are certain boundaries to be followed in a transition. As much as we love
Pastor Sarah, November 27th is her last day. There should be NO correspondence with Pastor Sarah after that. All church business will be handled by Pastor Debbie.
It is not fair to either pastor not to follow these guidelines.

Again, Thank You Pastor Sarah and Welcome Pastor Debbie.

Don Gritmacker
President, St. John’s

Pastor Sarah’s final farewell...
Dear People of God at St. John’s,

“For surely I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me,” says the Lord… (Jeremiah 29:11-14a)

When I accepted the call to be your pastor on October 15, 2004, I couldn’t have guessed the
plans God had for us: everything we’d be able to do and who we would be as we did it. The
past 13 years at St. John’s have been fruitful and wonderful. I have been blessed to be a part of
an extraordinary community that has nurtured me and helped me grow. We have accomplished remarkable goals, and we’ve made a lasting difference in the town of Hebron and beyond.
I am thankful for all of it—the hard funerals, the joyous celebrations, the long hours of work
in committees and on renovations, the many fundraisers, and all those worship services. I am proud of this church, and I am proud to have been a part of it.
